hydrofacial

I'm 26 years young and I've yet to get botox or filler. I'm not even sure if they're the same thing... I do know that the elasticity in my skin is already declining and when I look in the mirror at age 26, compared to when I was 18, I do see more fine lines. I was recently inspired to make more of an effort when it comes to taking care of my skin. I want to correct what can be corrected and preserve as much as I can in the most natural way. I got to thinking about my everyday skin care regimen and knew I needed to learn more.

I met Sarah, one of the estheticians at Earth Savers, and immediately feel in love with how passionate she is about educating her clients on proper skin care. I explained to her what my skin care regimen was, told her about my concerns, and after my hydrofacial she made some suggestions.

If there's one suggestion I can make to my readers it's to make an appointment at Earth Savers, met an esthetician and let her get to know your skin. Elaborate on your current skin care regimen and then let them give you suggestions. I was blown away with how much I learned after just one facial.

So what exactly happens during a hydrofacial?

Step One
Is the cleansing and exfoliating step. Similar to microdermabrasion, it gently exfoliates while simultaneously shooting out an AHA solution (lactic and glycolic acid) to cleanse and give a light chemical exfoliation.

Step Two
Is the extraction step. This step uses a BHA solution (salicylic acid) to loosen up dirt, oil and impurities in the pores, while the suction gently removes it.

Step Three
Is the hydration step. This step is a blend of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and peptides to ‘feed’ the skin and plump it back up.

As you can imagine, after these three thorough steps, my skin is still reaping the benefits. Thanks to Sarah at Earth Savers, I learned more about my own skin and can now properly care for and correct in the most efficient and natural way possible.

how to stay organized

I can not wait for this New Orleans FREEZE to pass. It's been really cold and everything in the city has basically shut down. Both work and school have been canceled which gave me extra time to catch up on my to-do list and finish up on my Spring cleaning. If there's anything I'm good at it's staying productive and working hard on a daily basis (which wouldn't be possible if I wasn't organized). So I've listed a few tips on how I stay organized!

1. Don't keep things out of guilt!

I'm not a stuff collector. So if someone buys me a cute mug or notepad that says "blogging" or "boss lady," I don't hold on to it if I don't need it. I'll either re-gift, sell, or donate depending on what the most appropriate thing to do is. These items typically cause clutter and never end up serving a purpose.

2. Spring clean and then Fall clean.

Professional organizers suggest getting rid of items that you haven't touched in over a year. I like to go through all drawers, closets, and cabinets twice a year to take "inventory" if you will. Things that get broken, damaged, or have faded from the wash need to go! Perfect example from my current Spring cleaning experience is my swimsuit situation. I noticed that the elasticity in a few of my swimsuits aren't holding up and I won't be able to re-wear them in the Summer. I obviously got rid of these swimsuits because they serve no purpose just sitting in my drawer.

3. Make specific days for specific tasks.

Sunday is my grocery day. Making specific days of the week for certain tasks will help keep you in a routine, which will help keep you organized in the long run. If I don't get groceries on Sunday then our whole week is thrown off. We end up having to by lunch Monday and Tuesday or can't make coffee in the morning which is never fun. It's like the domino effect...

4. A tip for the household.

The trick is to clean a little bit each day and not over commit yourself. Garrett is always telling me that I clean too much. It's because he see's me cleaning on a daily basis but doesn't realize it's only taking me 30 minutes. I might wash our sheets and then vacuum the living room. The next day I might change the AC air filter and then clean the back-splash. We also don't have any kids! :)

5. My favorite tip!

I try to only have one major list/schedule (having 3-4 notepads is way too much for me). If I don't have my planner with me and I need to write something down, I write it in my notes. If you tend to forget about these guys then right it in your planner to check your phone notes on a weekly basis. On a daily basis, I take a sticky note and write down the most important things I need to get done and keep it on my steering wheel or on top of my planner. That sticky note tip has really been a life saver. I started doing this almost two years ago and that has really seemed to do the trick!
